He Whānau Reti Rapa Kotahi - Richter City ❤️ Swamp City x Home Season 2023

Swamp City from Te Papaioea & Richter City from Pōneke are excited to hold their first event of their joint home season tournament - He Whānau Reti Rapa Kotahi.

Mānawatia a Matariki! Ngā mihi o te wā e te iwi. Nau mai whakatau mai ki te kaupapa reti rapa hou nei.

Come along to the first event of the Richter City Roller Derby joint home season series with Swamp City Roller Derby from Palmerston North! "He Whānau Reti Rapa Kotahi" will be a series of games between the Trauma Queens (Papaioea/Palmerston North), Quad Bombers (Papaioea/Palmerston North), Smash Malice (Pōneke/Wellington) and Brutal Pageant (Pōneke/Wellington).

Ko wai mātou? Who are we?

We are two tīma reti rapa (roller derby teams) from Pōneke (Wellington) and Te Papaioea (Palmerston North) and we are about to join forces to create our own interleague tonamana whakangahau (fun tournament) to whakanuia (celebrate) not only our awesome sport, but to whakatairanga (promote) and whakaatu ki te hapori (demonstrate) to the rest of the roller derby community in Aotearoa, the importance of encompassing mātāpono māori (māori principles) such as whanaungatanga, kotahitanga and manaakitanga within your organisation. We all should be active in working towards decolonising our leagues and making our spaces inclusive for all. Tīhei mauri ora!

19th August in Te Papaioea - Smash Malice Vs Quad Bombers& Brutal Pagaent Vs Trauma Queens

9th September in Pōneke - Smash Malice Vs Brutal Pagaent

4th November in Pōneke- Season Final playoffs for 1st & 2nd, and 3rd & 4th places.
